What tyres are people using?

I need some new for my rear 225/45/R17, any makes I should avoid?

What would be the widest tyre I can get away with as I want to avoid damage to the wheel from further kerbing?

I'm currently running goodyear at the minute and can't fault them.

The rears are getting low and will need changing soon and I'm thinking of giving some hankook's ago next

hi , i have continentals all round and love them, there grip is amazing, and wear is not too bad, normal! and i do alot of miles. but are very expensive.

i was using kumhos and now use falkens. both are not expensive and have decent grip.

Im on Continentals cant fault them just really expensive for 17"ers, Falken FK's are really good too if you can put up with a bit more road noise!

I have just stuck a pair of Pireli P6000 on the back and so far they are superb. Road noise has increased slightly but with the extra grip I'm getting I'm not bothered! £68 a corner too which isnt bad at all I dont think!

A quick question. Can I get away with putting 245/45 or 40/R17 on the rear? The fronts have a little bit of life in them but in my eyes the tyres are a little narrow for the wheel. Is there enough room in a E46 arches for 245's??
