320i auto transmission

I have a 320i tourer done 80 0000 kls with automatic transmission with sports option .Reguarly serviced by BMW.- told that transmission must be now replaced. Its out of warranty .what can cause this collapse after just 80 000 klm.

I have a 323i Touring that just required a full transmission rebuild at 58,000 miles. I was not expecting that. Mine has the 325 ZF gearbox with the Sport option (Steptronic) too. Seems like a very weak link. Mine was caused by a leak at the torque converter and front pump juncture. It was very messy, and with no dipstick, difficult to maintain the fluid level.
